Taylor Kelly and David Burlacu

LIFE + STYLE
Making the move from Melbourne to New York, creative couple Taylor Kelly and David Burlacu give us an insight into their world and the style that defines it.
What does your perfect day in NYC look like?
TAYLOR: Starting the day with movement at Forward Space or Sky Ting. Then a coffee from Park at KIMS and brunch at Gem on Mott St before browsing some local stores - I love Bomi, Oroboro and Desert Vintage. A walk through Central Park and visiting the Guggenheim in the afternoon. A cocktail at Bartolo in the West Village and dinner at Palma!
DAVID: Any day in spring that’s sunny. I usually grab my camera and shoot around my neighbourhood. I started doing this exercise where I pick a color and look for it. It’s simple and it keeps me focused.

What is next on your travel destination list?
TAYLOR: The South of France this summer with my dear friends, but I’d also LOVE to visit Athens - haven’t been in over 15 years.
DAVID: I’m headed to Bucharest, Romania in August for Summerwell Festival. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are headlining and I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve never seen them live.
To anyone visiting New York, what are your top tips?
TAYLOR: It’s so easy to overpack your schedule, but there’s so much beauty in the in-between. Visit Silence Please, a listening room and tea house with a great line up of events. Book a reservation at Palma! And order the Focaccia, Carciofi Fritti, and Ravioli Cacio e Pepe (which also happens to be gluten free).
DAVID: In the city: Give yourself one day to do all the touristy stuff. The best bits are discovered by walking around without an agenda. On Thursdays there’s always new gallery openings in Chelsea - you might end up a bit tipsy from all the complimentary booze. Golden Diner has the best fluffy pancakes, and Minetta Tavern has a great burger - if you can’t get a reservation, ask to be seated at the bar.
